  Senior Scientist, Medicinal Chemistry

Location:  Sherbrooke, QC, Canada

Responsibilities:

  • Plan project specific activities in support of company discovery and development efforts
  • .
  • Analyze biological results and interface with internal pharmacology group to design and plan necessary improvements to lead molecules to achieve targeted candidate profile.
  • Design and execute synthesis, purification (flash chromatography, HPLC, crystallization, distillation) and characterization (NMR, IR, GC, LC-MS) of new molecules and analogues of lead candidates (milligram to gram scale) individually or in a library format
  • .
  • Design and evaluation of alternative synthetic routes for construction of target molecules.
  • Development of route optimization strategies and schemes to permit larger scale synthesis of molecules and fragments
  • .
  • Design and evaluation of new synthetic processes and improvement of existing procedures to support advanced compound development
  • .
  • Assist in analysis and technical assessment of new potential targets

  • Acting as a major technical resource for other scientific staff members

  • Presentation of results internally and externally, including at major scientific conferences.
  • Supervision, training and mentoring of multiple junior scientific staff members and ensuring that they perform to an expected level

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Organic or Medicinal Chemistry with a concentration in organic synthesis, including experience with multi-step organic synthesis, with postdoctoral experience preferred.

  Analytical Chemists

Location:  Sherbrooke, QC, Canada

Responsibilities:

  • Development HPLC methods for the analysis of small organic molecules, in particular chromatography using chiral stationary phases.
  • Purification of lead compounds using a semi-automated preparative HPLC system and development of procedures for more efficient separations.
  • Maintain up-to-date records for all work performed and ensure a safe workplace.

Qualifications:

  • Chemist (B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D.) with a minimum of 4 years of experience in HPLC.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and expertise in HPLC method development

  • Experience in chiral chromatography and/or HPLC purification of small organic molecules preferred.
  • Superior organizational skills with strong computer proficiency

  Synthetic Chemists: B.Sc. / M.Sc.

Location:  Sherbrooke, QC, Canada

Responsibilities:

  • Under the guidance of a senior chemist, perform building block and target compound syntheses to support internal and collaborative projects.
  • Preparation of these compounds individually or in a library format utilizing both classical solution-phase and solid-phase methods as appropriate. This includes conducting and monitoring reactions, as well as isolation, characterization and purification of the materials obtained.
  • Assist in the development of new synthetic processes and improvement of existing procedures to support advanced compound development.
  • Maintain up-to-date records for all work performed and ensure a safe workplace.

Qualifications:

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Organic or Medicinal Chemistry with 0-5 years of experience
  • At the B.Sc. level, a working knowledge of organic chemistry and proficiency in common laboratory techniques are required with an understanding of spectroscopic methods of analysis (NMR, MS, IR, UV) and analytical/separation procedures (column chromatography, reverse-phase chromatography, HPLC) desirable.
  • At the M. Sc. level, demonstrated skills in multi-step organic synthesis together with a thorough knowledge of modern purification methods and analytical techniques is expected.
  • Experience in combinatorial, solid-phase organic or peptide chemistry is highly beneficial.

  Organic and Medicinal Chemists: Ph.D.

Location:  Sherbrooke, QC, Canada

Responsibilities:

  • Design and execution of multi-step syntheses of new compounds and analogues of existing lead molecules for biological evaluation on milligram to gram scale.
  • Conduct appropriate synthetic follow-up studies to optimize bioactivity obtained in support of internal and collaborative programs.
  • Optimization of synthetic routes for specific new product candidates.
  • Design and construction of focused and targeted chemical libraries for screening in selected biological target systems utilizing parallel synthesis techniques.
  • Development and synthesis of novel fragments for incorporation into biologically active molecules.
  • Maintain up-to-date records for all work performed and ensure a safe workplace.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Organic or Medicinal Chemistry with postdoctoral preferred and 0-5 years industrial experience
  • .
  • Demonstrated proficiency and expertise in multi-step synthesis with a thorough knowledge of modern organic chemistry, purification methods and analytical techniques.
  • Experience in combinatorial, solid-phase organic or peptide chemistry is a plus
