David J. Drutz, M.D. (Chairman)

General Partner, Pacific Rim Ventures Co., Ltd.

Dr. Drutz has been a General Partner with Pacific Rim Ventures (Tokyo, Japan) since 1999. Pacific Rim Ventures (PRV) is focused on global biotechnology investment opportunities in the area of the life sciences. Dr. Drutz was formerly VP Biological Sciences (Drug Discovery) and VP Clinical Research (AIDS therapeutics) at Smith Kline and French Laboratories in King of Prussia, PA, and VP Clinical Development, Daiichi Pharmaceutical Corporation, Ft. Lee, NJ. At Daiichi he was responsible for the development of 5 anti-infective and oncology products. Dr. Drutz left Daiichi in 1990 to enter the biotechnology industry. Before joining PRV he was President and CEO of Inspire Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: ISPH) - a company specializing in therapeutics for diseases of the respiratory tract and other mucus membrane surfaces. Dr. Drutz received his M.D. degree at the University of Louisville, and postgraduate medical training at Vanderbilt, following which he served as a U.S. Navy medical officer in Taiwan, Vietnam and the Philippines. He held senior faculty positions at UCSF, U. Texas and the U. Pennsylvania. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the Infectious Diseases Society of America.

Jean-Paul Castaigne, M.D.

President and CEO, AngioChem

Dr. Castaigne is President and CEO of AngioChem. Prior to joining AngioChem, he was COO and CSO of Conjuchem, Inc., a Montreal-based drug delivery company that relies on a novel in vivo bioconjugation technology. In this role, he advanced multiple clinical and preclinical candidates, primarily peptides, and made significant contributions to the company's financing and partnering activities. Prior to joining Conjuchem in 2000, he was Vice-President, World Wide Head of Global R&D at Fournier Group in France. Before that, he was with Novartis (Sandoz) Pharma for over 10 years in a variety of international positions, including President and Managing Director for Sandoz Philippines and Director of Medical and R&D for Sandoz in France and as Corporate Vice-President, R&D, Medical and Regulatory in Canada, where he oversaw significant growth in the R & D operation. Earlier in his career, Dr. Castaigne worked for Cilag France (Johnson & Johnson) and Sanofi in clinical and regulatory management. He received his M.D. from Paris University in 1975, held the position of Associate Professor of Oncology, Pneumology there in 1978, and received his advanced diploma in Management and Business Administration in 1987 from the Commercial Chamber of Commerce of Paris.

Donald F. Corcoran, M.B.A.

President & CEO, MethylGene

Mr. Corcoran is President, Chief Executive Officer and a Director of MethylGene, a Montreal based, chemistry-focused biopharmaceutical company formed in 1997. MethylGene's current goal is the discovery and development of rationally designed small molecule drugs against enzyme targets with an initial focus on cancer and infectious diseases. Mr. Corcoran led the formation of MethylGene during his tenure as Vice President, International Operations and Business Development at Hybridon Inc. While at Hybridon, Mr. Corcoran established a number of corporate alliances with multinational health care companies valued at over $275 million. Prior to joining Hybridon in 1992, Mr. Corcoran was Business Planning Manager at Schering Plough Pharmaceuticals and while employed at Eli Lilly and Company from 1982 to 1991, served in a variety of financial, accounting, marketing, human resources and acquisition/strategic planning positions. Mr. Corcoran serves on the Board of Directors of Tranzyme, Inc. an emerging biotechnology company in the U.S. He began his business career as an administrator with Burke Rehabilitation Hospital, New York in 1978. Mr. Corcoran received a BA in Economics and Biology from Union College in 1978 and an MBA from The Johnson Graduate School of Management, Cornell University in 1982.

Aaron Davidson, M.B.A.

Managing Director, HIG Ventures

Aaron Davidson is a Managing Director of H.I.G. Ventures and focuses on investment opportunities in the life sciences sector. Prior to joining H.I.G., he was a Vice President with Ventures West with a focus on venture investing in life science companies. Aaron began his career with Eli Lilly Company, one of the largest global pharmaceutical companies. He spent a decade with Lilly in various management roles in the U.S. and Canada including business development, strategic planning, market research, and financial planning. After Lilly he spent a year as the Vice-President of Corporate Business Development at SYN-X Pharma. Aaron currently serves on the boards of Gemin X Biotechnologies Inc, HyperBranch Medical Technology, NeurAxon Inc., Novadaq Technologies Inc (public June 2005), Oncogenex Technologies Inc, Tranzyme Pharma and is a board observer at Avera Pharmaceuticals Inc. He served on the board of Salmedix Inc. prior to Cephalon's acquisition of Salmedix in June 2005. Aaron earned his MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University.

Brenda D. Gavin, D.V.M, M.B.A.

Managing Partner, Quaker BioVentures

Dr. Gavin is a founding partner of Quaker BioVentures. Previously, she was President of S.R. One, Limited (S.R. One), GlaxoSmithKline's bioscience venture capital investment company, and a general partner of EuclidSR Partners, an independent venture capital limited partnership focused on healthcare, information technology, and their convergence. Since its inception in 1985, S.R. One has invested over $340 million in approximately 100 life sciences companies and 20 venture funds. Dr. Gavin was responsible for many of the direct venture and strategic investments made by S.R. One. She served as a board member or active board observer for many of these, including Adolor, Inhale, Sepracor and Versicor. Prior to joining S.R. One in 1989, Dr. Gavin was Director of Business Development for SmithKline Beecham Animal Health Products. She started her career as an epidemiologist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Dr. Gavin is a graduate of Baylor University where she majored in Biology. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Missouri and her Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas - San Antonio. Dr. Gavin is highly regarded in the venture capital community and is a board member of Eximias Pharmaceutical Corporation, the National Venture Capital Association, the Ben Franklin Technology Center of Southeastern Pennsylvania, the Ben Franklin Technology Development Authority, Innovation Philadelphia, BioAdvance (the Biotechnology Greenhouse Corporation of Southeastern Pennsylvania), and serves on the advisory boards of the Pennsylvania State University Research Foundation and the Monell Institute. Dr. Gavin is also an active board observer of Nucleonics Inc.

Vipin K. Garg, Ph.D.

President & CEO, Tranzyme Pharma

Dr. Garg joined Tranzyme as its President and CEO in September 2000. He has over 20 years of biotechnology industry experience in both technical and management positions. Under his leadership, Tranzyme recently merged with a Canadian biotechnology company (NEOKIMIA, Inc.) resulting in the formation of Tranzyme Pharma. Prior to joining Tranzyme, Dr. Garg was Chief Operating Officer at Apex Bioscience Inc. (now Curacyte AG of Munich, Germany), where he was responsible for establishing a major strategic alliance with a Japanese Pharmaceutical Company and advancing the Company's lead product into Phase II clinical development. Earlier he was Vice President of Product Development and Manufacturing at DNX, Inc. [NASDAQ: DNXX], and held management positions at Sepracor Inc. [NASDAQ: SEPR] and Bio-Response Inc. (acquired by Baxter). During his career Dr. Garg has been involved in several financings and liquidity events, including mergers and acquisitions. He has managed combined operations in both US and Europe. Dr. Garg received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry in 1982 from the University of Adelaide, Australia.

Alex Zisson, M.B.A.

Venture Partner, Thomas, McNerney & Partners

Mr. Zisson joined Thomas, McNerney & Partners in 2002 and is currently a board member of Clarus Therapeutics, Inc. and Tranzyme Pharma, Inc. Before joining the firm, he spent eleven years in the research department at Hambrecht & Quist (and its successor firms Chase H&Q and JPMorgan H&Q). During his tenure at H&Q, Mr. Zisson led research teams covering the biotechnology, specialty pharmaceuticals, large-cap pharmaceuticals, drug delivery and diagnostics industries. He was the lead analyst on 10 book-running IPOs and 20 book-run secondary offerings, raising over $2 billion for health care companies. In 1997, he was named a Managing Director and began assuming management responsibilities for the health care research group and the firm's annual January conference. After the merger of Chase H&Q and JPMorgan, Mr. Zisson also became the firm's Health Care Strategist. He was named twice in The Wall Street Journal All-Star Analysts Survey, including his last year at JP Morgan when he placed in all three categories: stock picking (#1 in pharmaceuticals), earnings estimate accuracy (tied for #2), and 'home run' hitting (#8 across all industries). He graduated magna cum laude from Brown University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
