TExT™ - TranzExpression Technology |

TExT offers unique advantages for
gene function discovery, high quality target validation and therapeutic lead identification
through high-content screening.
TExT technology is our proprietary functional biology platform which has been validated in
multiple drug discovery partnerships. Today, drug discovery is limited by the scarcity of
focused biological approaches to validate genes as therapeutic targets. Tranzyme's approach
to functional biology enables the development of highly sought after clinically relevant
biological systems, including novel cell-lines and acute and genetically modified animal
models. Tranzyme has the ability to efficiently express genes in any mammalian cell type,
especially difficult targets such as terminally differentiated cells and mammalian embryos.
As a result, TExT allows for a seamless transition along the drug discovery process and more
meaningful therapeutic screening.
TExT is based on a patented lentiviral vector that enables the efficient delivery of genes
into any cell type, whether the cell is dividing or differentiated. The TExT vector
incorporates proprietary aspects that increase efficiency of gene delivery and eliminate
safety concerns.
TExT can deliver genes to cells of great
commercial interest, including neurons, retinal cells, stem cells, cardiovascular
cells, and endothelial cells. Furthermore, once genes are delivered to target cells, the
cells have long-term expression of the integrated genetic material. The TExT vector has the
added advantage of safety, since the vector was designed in a way that ensures its inability
to replicate.
The TExT vector has also been combined with RNAi technology. TExT circumvents the delivery
issues associated with the applications of siRNA technology by bypassing inefficiencies and
transient expression related to delivering naked siRNA. This combination offers a
revolutionary means of producing gene "knockdowns" quickly and efficiently. Further, the
TExT vector expressing siRNA allows for the creation of transgenic knockdowns, which are
preferred alternatives to knockouts in terms of cost, labor and time.
Tranzyme Pharma has partnered its TExT technology in collaborations to assign functions to
genes, express native proteins of therapeutic interest, develop novel clinically relevant
assays, and create genetically modified animal models.
